This week I have been doing the course at the escalla training academy. For most of the time we have been discussing issues related to our/my personal development. We started off by discussing issues concerning our modern society, for example this included such issues like diversity, equality or involvement in politics. That’s why one of our first tasks was to write a definition of safeguarding. Later on we discussed radicalisation and how it may affect us personally or anybody around us. Apart from the discussion, we also did quite an extensive and interactive tutorial on that topic, which helped us to explore all the intricacies of radicalisation and how to prevent it.

On Wednesday we were mainly concerned with water safety. The topic covered multiple issues regarding staying safe when nearby or in water. For example, we were discussing what to do in case of an emergency, like falling into cold water, so that we can increase our chances for staying alive even in the most dramatic situations. Also, we talked about how important it is to never underestimate water, as it is an element far mightier than we are. Then we moved to a short coding workshop.

Next thing we talked about were the British Values, which encompass democracy, rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance of different beliefs and faiths and individual liberty. Before moving forward each one of us gave a speech/presentation on their understanding of the British Values.

Another thing on our agenda were SWOT chart and SMART analyses. Each one of us was to develop one of each, so that we got clear understanding of the direction each of us is going.
